Hemp Elegance was founded on the principles of sustainability and renewal.

Lisa Benjamin, the owner and designer, created the company to provide hemp fabric clothing and accessories as practical, elegant and available to all those who desire to become part of the solution movement.

In the late eighties and early nineties, as a professional chef, Lisa worked in four major health spas as head chef around the U.S. and Hawaii.  Recycling, sustainability and community outreach/education were part of the daily curriculum namely at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach FL and the Aveda headquarters in Blaine MN, also the Aveda Spa in Osceola WI where she worked as head chef.

Specializing in raw food cuisine, gourmet vegetarian, macrobiotic and ayurvedic cuisine using predominantly organics, Lisa taught classes in lifestyle change and how to improvise in the kitchen to create healthy, delicious meals.

“You are what you eat”- was the motto she lived and taught.

Embracing her creative background as a chef, travels as a natural clothing buyer for a Earth Origins, early years designing her own clothing, she brings together a full circle vision into Hemp Elegance.

“You are what you eat” eventually expanded into Lisa’s motto- “You Are What You Wear”.

Industrial Hemp, the plant that can feed, shelter, fuel and of course cloth the human race in the most sustainable, enriching way, hemp fabrics being the source of this inspiration, Lisa is driven to spread the news.

Practical, fashionable elegant clothing and accessories are the result, bringing to being Hemp Elegance.
